Black and White Quilt

 Hi
Back to Blogging in this space after a very long time!!. Quilting had taken a back step when I started baking. How much ever I convinced myself that I had no time for sewing due to the cake orders, I still had this longing to sew a simple clutch or a bag  but never could sit down to sew. I guess I couldn't stop myself from sewing on my dream machine Bernina 580!!

When it was decided that my son had to leave to Germany for pursuing his higher studies, I knew I had to sew a quilt to make him feel cosy:-). He wanted a black and white quilt and on seeing many patterns on the internet I finally decided that this was the perfect one for him.
Tina and I figured out that this in done by strip piecing and then cutting into triangles and thought it was pretty easy since I had sewn a similar one earlier but then my  struggle  with the blocks  started as they were all on bias . Thanks Tina for helping me out with this :-)Finally with the columns sewn in place, I decided to give it a black border  and the final size is 75"*105".
I have used 150 GSM cotton batting and a very soft yellow backing to give that soft comfortable feel and have quilted along the strips.

Am very proud of this quilt.
Later on surfing the internet I came across with this easy tutorial for the same block. Click HERE to see the tutorial
Next time I will use this easy way out for this complicated looking quilt!!
Feels good to back to sewing and quilting.I must thank my son for prodding me to finish this quilt in a record time:-)Hope he likes it too

This is off to Coburg now!!!!!

Patchwork Cushion Covers

Hi
I am so sorry for being for not posting regularly. I have been trying to do too many things I guess:-)With lot of cooking at Veg junction, Tast, and now being a part of a quilting guild is taking a lot of time and I am not able to finish any project in the stipulated time. That is the reason I joined OPAM 2012, I needed a push as usual. It means, you need to finish one project a month and is definitely doable.
Did I mention that I got featured on Sharaon blog for my pin cushion. You can see it HERE
So my finish for the month of February is a set of patch work cushion covers...yes!!I have started sewing again!!
Here I have used The method of Disappearing nine patch and chose to use vibrant colours to match the wall decor
For the backing I have used plain red crinkled cotton
I loved these vibrant coloured cushions.Did you???

Beaded Chevron Stitch

Hi
Missed out 2 weeks of TAST 2012 but am back with Chevron!!Since I wanted to stitch a kurti/tunic for my daughter, I decided to embellish it with beads using Chevron Stitch which is the stitch of the week by Sharaon for TAST 2012.
You can see the instructions of chevron here on pintangle. I will be posting the tute for beaded chevron a little later.
Here in this tunic i have embellished it with thin long white beads and since the fabric already had perfect parallel lines, it was pretty easy to do the embroidery.
Did you like it?
I loved it and so did my daughter!!!!!
Enjoy the pics !!!!!!!!!

Have I inspired you to take the needle and thread and to try the stitch out???????
Lining this to OPAM 2012
Have fun
Happy stitching!!

Feather stitch for Tast 2012

Hi
I missed out doing the second week of TAST 2012 by Sharon...I was basking in the glory of being featured on her blog with nine others for my Fly stitch sample..that i missed out completing the second stitch. So now I am back with the stitch of this week -Feather stitch. You can see sharon's tutorial here.My earlier versions can be seen here
I have tried to use this stitch in a closed stacked manner to form a mesh like feel and accentuating with sequins and beads.
This stitch is used in one part of the design of a cushion cover,

The above feather stitch is worked on a piece of fabric which will be a part of a bag!!!Love the vibrant colours!!!!1
